After a successful inaugural year, our Ten Talks programme returns in June 2025!

This prestigious event will feature ten thought-provoking presentations across five sessions from leading academics and public figures, each addressing a big question of local, national and global significance. This year, groups of students will also be presenting their responses to the big questions being poised by the ten presenters. Ten Talks is a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from those at the forefront of research and the cutting edge of their fields.

Session 3: Evolution and Education - from dinosaurs to digital debates

Our chair, Alex Keen (Education Officer, Guild of Students), introduces:

  • Life on the 'Jurassic Highway'. Professor Richard Butler, Professor of Palaeobiology (School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences)
  • Should smartphones be banned in schools? Dr Vicky Goodyear, Associate Professor in Pedagogy in Sport, Physical Activity and Health (School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences)
